Idi Mukhtar Maiha is the current Honorable Minister of Livestock Development in Nigeria, appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in October 2024. Maiha holds a degree in Agriculture from the University of Maiduguri and a Master's degree in Animal Science from the University of Ibadan. Prior to his ministerial appointment, Maiha served as the Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources in Borno State and as a director in the Borno State Ministry of Agriculture. He is also the managing director and CEO of Zaidi Farms Ltd. As the Minister of Livestock Development, Maiha has emphasized the importance of transforming Nigeria's livestock sector. His ministry is focusing on key areas, including disease control, preventing and controlling diseases affecting livestock, developing and improving veterinary infrastructure, rehabilitating and developing grazing reserves, and establishing partnerships with state governments to create model livestock villages Maiha has also demonstrated his commitment to promoting livestock development in Nigeria, as seen in his address at the 2025 World Bee Day Celebration.
