Dr. D.P. Bureau is a professor of animal nutrition at the University of Guelph, Canada’s leading agriculture university. He has over 35 years of research experience in academia and industry. His research program focuses on amino acids and phosphorus utilization, feed ingredient evaluation, the effect of thermal damage to proteins and the mathematical modeling of growth and feed requirement of different animal species. He has been leading cutting-edge research projects on the nutritive value of soy products since 1994.
Dr. Bureau interacts and works very closely with feed manufacturers, ingredient suppliers and farming operations around the world. He was a member of the US NRC Committee on Nutrient Requirements of Fish and Shrimp (2009-2011). Since 2014, he has been leading the development of the International Aquaculture Feed Formulation Database (www.iaffd.com), a free online resource with detailed data on the composition of over 700 feed ingredients and nutritional specifications for over 40 aquatic species at different life stages. He is now also leading the development of the Monogastric Animals Feed Formulation Database (maffd.com) with the support of USSEC. Dr. Bureau is also co-founder of Wittaya, an innovative company developing cutting-edge online tools and offering support and digital solutions to feed manufacturers, feed ingredient suppliers and animal producers around the globe.
