Asanka Nanayakkara is a second-generation entrepreneur and business leader helping guide the continued growth and modernization of Sri Lanka’s Nelna Group. As Director of Nelna Agri Development and Nelna Farm, he is responsible for advancing strategy, innovation, sustainability, operational excellence, and international market development across the Group’s agriculture and poultry businesses.
Nelna Farm is one of Sri Lanka’s leading vertically integrated poultry companies, while Nelna Agri Development operates the country’s largest mango plantation. Together, the businesses employ more than 1,400 people, serve customers across Sri Lanka, and export products to over 10 international markets. Under Asanka’s leadership, Nelna continues to invest in advanced processing technology, responsible bird-welfare systems, food safety, product quality, and internationally recognized standards, including FSSC 22000.
Nelna is also among the most recent companies to enter into Fed With Sustainable U.S. Soy license agreement, reflecting its commitment to responsible sourcing, sustainability, and global best practices.
Asanka holds a Master of Business and Entrepreneurship from Monash University in Australia and a BSc (Hons) in Accounting and Finance from the University of Sussex in the United Kingdom.
