Mohammad Jabir Al-Sahli is a Saudi aquaculture specialist and founder of the Global Marine Center (GMC), with more than four decades of experience in fisheries development, aquaculture, marine resources, and industry leadership.

A graduate of King Saud University, Al-Sahli began his career with Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Agriculture, where he played an important role in establishing the Kingdom’s early fisheries regulatory and institutional framework. He subsequently served as Director General of Fish Farm Management, contributing to the development of freshwater and marine aquaculture projects across Saudi Arabia and supporting the Kingdom’s emergence as a significant producer and exporter of farmed shrimp.

His private-sector leadership has included senior roles with Saudi Fisheries Company, where he served as Manager of Aquaculture Activities and later as CEO from 2013–2018; NAQUA, where he served as Deputy Director General from 2007–2010; and Jazan Development Company, where he contributed to the design and development of shrimp production capacity.

In 2013, Al-Sahli established Tharawat Seas, an aquaculture venture focused on finfish and shrimp production, with licensed production capacity targeting 35,000 metric tons.

Throughout his career, he has participated in specialized aquaculture and environmental training programs in Japan, Canada, the Philippines, Taiwan, Ecuador, and Norway. Through GMC, he also provides advisory services and collaborates with government institutions, development organizations, and international companies.

Al-Sahli remains actively engaged in advancing aquaculture science, sustainable marine resource development, education, and community development across Saudi Arabia, the GCC, Yemen, Sri Lanka, and Egypt.
