Susan Burns has been the Principal Officer in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam since September 2022.  She previously served as the Director for the Office of Mainland Southeast Asia in the Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs.  Ms. Burns also served as the Director for Regional Strategy and Training in the State Department’s Bureau of International Information Programs as well as the Public Affairs Officer in Kampala, Uganda and Kathmandu, Nepal.  In Uganda, Ms. Burns oversaw the Mission’s response to the South Sudan crisis as acting Deputy Chief of Mission.  In Nepal, Ms. Burns led the crisis preparedness and communications response to the 2015 earthquake.  Her other assignments include Krakow, Poland, the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, Ghana, and Taiwan.

Ms. Burns was recommended for promotion into the Senior Foreign Service in 2018 and was awarded the State Department’s Edward R. Murrow Award for Excellence in Public Diplomacy in 2017.  She has a master’s degree in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College and a bachelor’s degree from McGill University.  She has studied Mandarin, Polish, Nepali, Vietnamese, and French.  Ms. Burns is married and has two daughters.

Darian was the inaugural Chief Sustainability Officer for the Monetary Authority of Singapore and the first CSO for a central bank globally. Prior to this, she was the Global Director of Corporate Affairs & Sustainability for Thai Union, a multi-billion dollar listed FMCG company operating globally and headquartered in Asia. With Thai Union she created an award winning sustainability strategy which was ranked first in the food category of the Dow Jones Sustainability Index and Seafood Stewardship Index for multiple years. Darian is a Visiting Professor in Practice with the London School of Economics and Political Science (Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment), a Senior Associate with the University of Oxford, Public and Third Sector Academy for Sustainable Finance, and an adjunct Senior Lecturer with Integrated Sustainability Analysis. Since 2015, Mr. Hai has participated in the consultancy for the issuing of Resolution no.19 by Vietnamese Government on the Improvement of Business Environment and Enhancement of National Competitiveness. Mr. Hai also acts as technical team leader to develop the Corporate Sustainability Index (CSI) – the first Vietnamese index for measuring sustainability – from 2014 to 2016, and run for the embedded of CSI into Resolution no.19. Lukas Manomaitis is the Managing Director of Seafood Consulting Associates and has worked professionally in the aquaculture industry since 1995.  His primary client is the U.S. Soybean Export Council (USSEC) where he has worked for over 20 years to promote the use of U.S. Soy products in aquaculture internationally.  This includes working on the expansion of the USSEC Aquaculture Program from China to a global program in 2002, the expansion of the In-Pond Raceway System (IPRS) technology from China to a global program starting in 2015, and helping to conceptualize and create the International Aquaculture Feed Formulation Database (IAFFD, at www.IAFFD.com).  He also serves on the USSEC Global Research Committee and helped update the USSEC IPRS Manual.  He currently works with USSEC on a global basis, and specifically in Southeast Asia to direct USSEC activities regionally.  He is also the USSEC Lead on the IAFFD initiative globally.
